As part of its 60th Anniversary celebration, the Bureau of Labor Relations (BLR) in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment-National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) conducted a series of Labor Education for Graduating Students (LEGS) seminars at universities in Intramuros, Manila.
Two hundred (200) graduating students from the Lyceum of the Philippines-Manila participated in the LEGS seminar on 13 January 2017, while sixty (60) graduating students of the Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Manila attended the session on 16 January 2017. The last LEGS seminar will be at the Mapua Institute of Technology-Manila on 3 February 2017.
Mr. Jeremiah T. Carlos, Labor and Employment Officer III of DOLE-NCR Manila Field Office, discussed the basic laws on labor standards. BLR employees distributed copies of the Employment Guide for Students and Jobseekers and the Handbook on Workers’ Statutory Monetary Benefits to the students and the faculty.
The LEGS as component of DOLE Labor and Employment Education Service (LEES) educates students on the rights and responsibilities of workers and employers, work ethics, values and other labor-related information that will guide and help them become responsible partners in establishing harmonious labor-management relations.
