The Bureau of Labor Relations (BLR) provided technical assistance and acted as resource person on Financial Management in the conduct of the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns’ (BWSC) Business Planning cum Writeshop on Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) last May 8-9, 2014 at Tacloban City.
The said activity was aimed at improving the capacity building services and sustain the livelihood activities of DOLE’s clients specially those who were affected and/or displaced by Typhoon Yolanda. It was participated by representatives of various workers associations/unions, PESO Managers and Provincial/Field Offices’ Livelihood Focal Persons in Region 8.
The resource persons from BWSC and BLR successfully delivered a Crash Course on Business Planning which was designed to provide the participants with appropriate knowledge on the following: characteristics of small business/enterprise; key elements of business planning; critical areas in small business/enterprise management; and preparation ofbusiness plans.
Topics discussed were:
1) Concept and Appreciation Building on Self-Employment and Entrepreneurship;
2) Introduction to Business Planning;
3) Details of a Business Plan;
4) Legal Requirements; and
5) Financial Statement.
After the lectures and discussions, the participants were asked to draft a business plan for their group/association which will be subjected for review by resource persons from BWSC and BLR.
