One year into the national election, the Bureau of Labor Relations conducted the certification election among the rank-and-file employees of the Commission on Elections Nationwide last May 6, 2015. Atty. Ma. Consuelo S. Bacay, as the over-all Election Officer, supervised the election with the assistance of nine (9) BLR personnel and staffs of the DOLE Regional Offices.

The election was held at the Office of the Provincial Election Supervisor of the COMELEC, namely: Cordillera Administrative Region with six (6) precincts; Ilocos Region with four (4) precincts; Cagayan Valley with five (5) precincts; Central Luzon with seven (7) precincts; CALABARZON with five (5) precincts; MIMAROPA with five (5) precincts; Bicol Region with six (6) precincts; Western Visayas with five (5) precincts; Central Visayas with four (4) precincts; Eastern Visayas with six (6) precincts; Zamboanga Peninsula with three (3) precincts; Northern Mindanao with five (5) precincts; Davao Region with four (4) precincts; SOCCKSARGEN with four (4) precincts; and ARMM .

An overwhelming number of 3,485 out of the 5,013 rank-and-file employees cast their votes. COMELEC Employees Union (COMELEC-EU), Alliance of COMELEC Employees in Service (ACES), and No Union were the choices in the recently concluded certification election.

Atty. Bacay commended the COMELEC workers for participating and acknowledging the right to association as a constitutionally-guaranteed right. The venture represents the workers’ firm stand for unity and fight for better working conditions.
