The Philippine Trade and General Workers Organization (PTGWO) availed of the training grant from the Bureau of Labor Relations through the Workers’ Organization Development Program (WODP).

The grant was used for the conduct of “Leadership and Organizational Development Seminars for Joint Industry: Petroleum and Chemical Unions”. The first of a three-series of training was held last June 25-27, 2015 at the Dawal Beach Resorts and Restaurants in Candelaria, Zambales.

Fifty-four (54) officers and members of PTGWO affiliates from petroleum and chemical industry participated in the activity. The seminar enabled the participants to enhance their leadership skills and capacities in responding to the challenges at work and established a system for cooperation and industry-level trade union actions.

Atty. Arnel Z. Dolendo, National President of PTGWO expressed gratitude for the support and financial assistance provided by the BLR for the said training. Sis. Linda Manabat added that the activity reflects the long standing partnership between PTGWO and DOLE which enabled PTGWO to convene several unions regardless of affiliations.

The workers’ capability development is a component of the WODP through which assistance and support are extended to qualified workers’ organization to enhance competency and skills in the management of their organization.
