BLR Director Benjo Santos M. Benavidez attended the 7th ASEAN-ILO Tripartite Regional Seminar on Industrial Relations on 14-15 September 2016 at the Makuhari International Training Center in Chiba Prefecture, Chiba, Japan.
The International Labor Organization (ILO) with the support of Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) conducted the seminar with the theme “Current Situation of Industrial Relations in the ASEAN Region and Promoting Social Dialogue within Enterprises” to provide opportunities for governments, workers and employers of ASEAN member countries to discuss and share laws and regulations as well as knowledge and experience concerning industrial relations and help develop better industrial relations and social dialogue within enterprises in the ASEAN region.
The seminar gathered together the tripartite representatives from all ASEAN member states.
Dir. Benavidez presented the general information on the labor market, current industrial relations situation and good practices of social dialogue within enterprises to promote industrial harmony.
The two-day seminar highlighted presentations from ASEAN countries on the following aspects: ILO policy recommendation and its advocacy; international and regional good practices on social dialogue; sound industrial relations and social dialogue within enterprises; and lessons learned from the employment and labour measures for recovery from the Great East Japan earthquake.
