Atty. Marissa P. Garcia, Mediator-Arbiter of the Bureau of Labor Relations (BLR), acted as resource person during the Basic Course for Labor Laws Compliance Officers (LLCOs) on 16 September 2016 at the Best Western Hotel in Manila.
The activity aimed to capacitate LLCOs in the conduct of assessment on business establishments towards compliance with general labor standards and occupational safety and health standards.
Nearly 55 newly-hired and designated LLCOs from Bureau of Working Conditions and DOLE Regional Offices participated in the training. Atty. Garcia lectured on the employer-employee relationship, rights and obligations of employees and employers, security of tenure, management prerogative and jurisdictions on labor dispute.
The Department of Labor and Employment, through the Human Resource Development Service (HRDS) conducted the 10-day training course. Representatives from Bureau of Working Conditions (BWC), Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC), National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB), National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) and Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) also served as resource persons in the activity.
The undertaking notes the importance of capacitating the DOLE employees towards providing quality and efficient service as well as finding the right balance between business viability and protection of the rights of workers.
