The Bureau of Labor Relations (BLR) on 20 January 2017 visited Hospicio de San Jose in Manila and spent happy moments with the elderly men and women as part of the BLR’s 60th Anniversary celebration.
BLR employees enjoyed the company of more than 80 old men and women who rendered song and dance presentations. They engaged in short but warm conversations and gamely danced with the elderly. A feeding session followed after the lively interactions.
BLR Director Benjo Benavidez sent his message of hope and love to the elderly through Ms. Luz Rosas who served as the entertainment master. “Dir. Benavidez would like to wish you that you all live longer just like his wish for the BLR to also stay longer as an institution that provides service to the Filipino workers and employers,” Ms. Rosas said.
The outreach activity was also part of BLR’s moral and character development program.
Ms. Jessica Calingacion, welfare officer of Hospicio de San Jose, thanked the BLR staff for spending time with the elderly and for providing them with their basic needs through donations of grocery items, toiletries, adult diapers, under pads and other personal care supplies.
Hospicio de San Jose, established in 1778, provides shelter and care to orphans, abandoned and special children, and the elderly.
