As part of its Green Our Dole Program (GODP) and in commemoration of its 60th Anniversary, the Bureau of Labor Relations (BLR) conducted a Clean and Green Activity in San Andres, Bukid in Manila on 21 January 2017.
BLR Director Benjo Benavidez led the BLR employees in collecting garbage and wastes and sweeping the streets of Sagrada Familia, Tejeron and Perlita in San Andres. “This activity is in keeping with the implementation of BLR’s GODP not only within the DOLE premises but also in different communities,” Dir. Benavidez said.
GODP is a DOLE advocacy that seeks to strengthen the advocacy on green issues and mitigation solutions on climate change for better delivery of programs and services to the public. It also seeks to strengthen awareness and consciousness on the concepts, principles and applications of green productivity.
The activity was organized with the assistance of the City of Manila’s Department of Public Services (DPS) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. BLR donated broomsticks, dustpans, garbage bags and other sweeping materials to DPS.
“It’s always fun to do an activity like this as it reinforces the spirit of volunteerism among government employees and promotes good environmental practices towards achieving a clean and green environment,” a BLR employee said.
