The Department of Labor and Employment, in coordination with the International Labour Organization and the Education Industry Tripartite Council-NCR has officially constituted the National Education Industry Tripartite Council during a convention which was attended by more than 250 labor and management representatives in the education industry on February 23-24, 2017 at the Waterfront Manila Pavilion Hotel.
“The Department [DOLE] capitalizes on tripartism, which is a declared State policy in labor-management relations, to address issues and concerns that pervades the education industry”, reads Director Johnson Cañete of NCR who delivered the opening message of Secretary Bello on his behalf.
On the part of ILO-Manila, it extended its congratulations to the stakeholders for the creation of the National EITC. “The creation of the National EITC provides a platform to address issues, gather updates and provide a venue for consultation in line with ILO’s agenda on the importance of social dialogue. Moreover, the establishment of the National EITC is another milestone for the Philippines in promoting strong and independent workers and employers” said Ms. Respall of ILO-Manila.
The creation of the National Education Industry Tripartite Council was formalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement by the labor and management representatives of each regional EITCs.
Officers of the Executive Committee were also elected with the results as follows: Atty. Agnes Rivera of NCR (President), Julius Romarate of Region IX (Vice President), Angelica Torres of Region XI (Secretary), Lyndon Buque of CARAGA (Treasurer), Junard Benitez of Region III (Auditor), Nestor Asuncion of NCR (PRO), Gina Garcia of Region 3 and Jaime Guardino of Region 5 (Luzon representative), Amalia Campos of Region 6 (Visayas representative) and Francisco Espinosa of Region 12 (Mindanao representative).
