Philippine Standard Time:

The Department of Labor and Employment issued Administrative Order No. 1 series of 2023 or the 2023 Annual Planning exercise. This is in accordance with implementing the Department’s key priorities to support the President’s Socio-Economic Agenda and Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028.

The primary goal of this activity is to assess the agency’s performance in 2022 and establish goals and targets for 2023. In addition, develop action plans to attain the targets and goals by identifying areas of the Department that have shown strength and relevance in previous years. As a result, the 2023 Labor Relations, Policy, and International Affairs Cluster Planning exercise commenced in Tagaytay City on January 12-13, 2023. Presided over by Undersecretary Benedicto Ernesto R. Bitonio Jr and Undersecretary Ciriaco A. Lagunzad III.

The Bureau of Labor Relations (BLR) Planning Team comprises of Director Maria Consuelo S. Bacay, Atty. Argyle Karen L. Bajas, Atty. Ramon A. Saura III, Ma. Lourdes R. Villafranca, Marivic T. Villa, Glorializa V. Delos Santos, and Charlie G. Rivas Jr. are in attendance in this activity. Directory Bacay presented the  BLR inputs to the DOLE Action Plan, Multi-Year Targets (2023-2025), and the Inventory of Pending Cases.

 

 

Subsequently, Undersecretary Benedicto Ernesto R. Bitonio Jr. & Undersecretary Ciriaco A. Lagunzad III provided comments & inputs to the presentation, including beneficial strategies and ways forward for the BLR.

Undersecretary Bitionio Jr. emphasized the significance of program convergence, such as WODP+. In addition, he stressed the need to deliver policy-relevant information throughout every tripartite consultation. Also, He highlighted the significance of consultation with the tripartite parties while executing Labor Education initiatives.

The activity concluded with consolidating comments from member agencies of the Labor Relations, Policy, and International Affairs Cluster for consideration in the forthcoming DOLE Wide Planning Exercise on February 02-03, 2023.
